Virtual Reality – a new entertainment opportunity for Aged Care Homes
Virtual Reality (VR) is now being utilised in aged care facilities all over the world. VR enables people to experience things that otherwise may not be possible for them. Through VR headsets, places and experiences can be brought to the participant offering a sense of freedom often not possible due to circumstances beyond their control.
A quick google of “aged care virtual reality” will give you a sense of how this is becoming a standard practice worldwide. In particular, virtual reality appears to be achieving some positive outcomes for dementia sufferers – google “virtual reality and dementia” for an example. The link below shows an example what is happening with VR in the aged care space:
Melbourne – Virtual Reality – New possibilities for residents
At Virtual Reality Adelaide we offer a service whereby our team will visit your Aged Care Home with our VR equipment and show your patients and staff exciting and entertaining Virtual Reality experiences and immersive 360 degree videos. These experiences include places and experiences from all over the world; tours and landmarks of the natural world or famous cities. We can include requested locations if appropriate. Essentially anywhere in the world can be visited in VR.
Complete cost for a 2 hour visit is $300. This will give up to 30 residents a turn on one of our 3 VR headsets. We can also replicate what someone is viewing in VR on a nearby TV so that other participants can be engaged in the proceedings.
If you would prefer an outing, we also offer VR sessions at our virtual reality centre at 207 Grenfell St in the Adelaide CBD. Here we have 7+ VR stations enabling more simultaneous users. The cost for this option is $250 for a 90 minute session.
Please contact me, Daniel, on 0477 553 320 if you have any questions or would like to book in.
